1st May 2025 - Beltane
Traditionally celebrated to acknowledge the midpoint between spring and summer, this period is recognized as a time of peak fertility. This is an incredibly joyful, festive time. It is a time for coming together, to celebrate the joy of life. It is about casting off the darkness and celebrating the light. The word ‘Beltane’ roughly translates as ‘bright fire’ and Beltane celebrations are often marked with bonfires seen as a symbol of purification and healing.
Banquets were often held in the open air, prepared with the produce of the time. The tradition of “the queen of May” comes from this festival in which a young woman was chosen to represent the goddess of nature.
We will do a mindful walk in the gardens at Doddington Hall to connect with their seasonal beauty. Together we will make gorgeous flower crowns from seasonal flowers to celebrate the joy of nature and the coming of summer and eat seasonal food together with the firepit alight to honour this magical festival.
Timings are 10 am – 4.30 pm. 5 places max. All materials and refreshments/lunch are provided £135 pp
